The Overnight Walk in Boston was inspiring and amazing! We walked from dusk 'til dawn, raising money for suicide prevention and education. BCSP President Lee Watroba raised $1,800, and Vice President Bertha Connelley raised $2,365.

BCSP President Lee Watroba and Vice President Bertha Connelley gratefully accepting a $1,000 donation from Jason Gaspardi, Senior Supervisor, and Margo Shepard, Human Resources Representative at Hamilton Relay’s Pittsfield Office.

Hamilton Relay is a national telecommunications company that provides a wide range of telephone, television and captioning services. The Pittsfield center process telephone calls for Captel Inc., which provides the deaf and hard-of-hearing community with captioned telephone service, allowing them equal access to their telephone devices.

The donation was made on behalf of the company and its employees. Mr. Gaspardi says, “We at Hamilton believe in creating strong bonds within our communities and giving back where we can. When I am looking for eligible organizations for donations, it is important to me that we are first serving our community and then that we are addressing something that our employees may have a connection to.”

On April 9 (Suicide Prevention Advocacy Day), BCSP President Lee Watroba and Austen Riggs Center’s Chief Nursing Officer Cheryl Puntil met with Senator Adam Hinds at the Massachusetts State House to discuss this very important topic.

1/13/2020: BCSP President Lee Watroba and Vice President Bertha Connelley presented Talk Saves Lives to staff at the Barrington Stage Company Playwright Mentoring Project (PMP) in Pittsfield. PMP is an intensive, six-month, out-of-school activity that uses theatre as a catalyst to help underserved youth ages 13-19 learn valuable life skills to aid them in developing a positive self-image. Many PMP participants struggle with issues such as bullying, substance abuse and other challenges that youth face during the transition from adolescence to adulthood.
